Through Scripture and photography I portray the beauty of God’s creation that speaks to our heart, mind and soul. In Roman’s 1:20a it reads, “For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities–His eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen.”

Most of the photography was done locally right where God has “planted” me...sometimes just outside my doorstep. In the everyday places...looking up at the sky, out at the fields and trees, and down the country roads. No retouching is done to the photographs, to show the pure beauty of each place. I have been amazed at the various views of the same location during different times of the day, and throughout the seasons of a year. “The heavens (do) declare the glory of God; the skies (do) proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.” Psalm 19:1-2

God’s Word is powerful and gives great comfort, hope and life. As the various cards and prints were compiled, I felt God’s Holy Spirit lead me through the Bible. God also used other people to show me verses that have been a great comfort and resource to them personally. Each card and print has its own unique story.

Those prints with only type are a “visual essay of God’s Word.” I use typography with many subtleties in how the text is positioned, the size of the type, and the use of color. I encourage you to read the various Scripture references in their entirety and context.

Though we live in a fallen, broken world, there is the beauty of God’s Redemption. Some of the images and Scripture used are very introspective. I wanted to show that God’s Word does go to the depth of life’s challenges. “Walking through Scripture” began as a booklet shortly after September 11th. I distinctly remember God leading me to put together a book of verses that would comfort people. Through the years it has grown and matured. God walks with us through the hard places of life. Personally I have experienced this in my own life’s challenges.

In 1988, God gave me Isaiah 61 as a promise:

“… to preach good news to the poor, to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of the vengeance or our God
to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve...
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness, instead of mourning
and a garment of praise, instead of a spirit of despair
They will be called oaks of righteousness
a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor
to rebuild, restore and renew what has been devastated for generations.”

“Walking Through Scripture” is the avenue God has given me to show this as He receives glory through His Word and creation. It brings me great joy when people share God’s Word to minister to others. Bring comfort, hope and life to those God puts in your path.... and may you also be richly blessed by His Word!
